Just wonder at it!

If you are going  to take a tour of Turin , don’t forget to visit the Palace of Venaria. I went last week for the fourth time since it was restored. I walked along the beautiful gardens after visiting the Reggia and the Orangery as well, to admire the wonderful Bucentaur of Savoy, hosted exceptionally in the majestic eighteenth-century architecture by Filippo Juvarra.

La Venaria Reale is a great estate just outside Turin. It comprises 80,000 square meters of floor surface in the Reggia and 60 hectares of Gardens. It is a natural and architectural masterpiece that was declared part of the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1997.

I always love walking in the Great Gallery! The Gallery, that connected the apartments of the King to that of the Crown Prince, is one of the most amazing spaces of the complex. The size of the Gallery is remarkable: 15 meters in height at the center of the vault, 80 meters in length and 12 in width. If during the visit you meet some children who pretend to be in a fairy tale or any young girls who act like princess, don’t worry! They are only flights of fancy.  But if you see a Queen on a wheelchair, well, you probably would  meet me…

At the end, visiting the Palace is good also to wash your feet!
